Chapter 2 Operating Your Universal Counter
Using the Gate & External Arm Menu Key
Press Gate & ExtArm key.
STOP: NEG is displayed.
Press any one of the arrow keys until STOP: TIME is displayed.
Set the Gate Time to 5 ms by performing the following steps:
a. Press Gate & ExtArm key.
TIME:
.100 seconds (the default time) is displayed.
b. Press the appropriate arrow keys to until TIME:
displayed.
c. Press Enter key.
BE SURE to press the Enter key to complete the numeric entry.
The counter will now gate for a duration of 5 ms.
Press Stop/Single key to start the measurement.
The measurement is started after the external arm pulse occurs.

Precise Measurements
Turn POWER key OFF then ON again (cycle POWER key) to preset the
Counter.
Connect (for demonstration purposes) the 10 MHz Out signal to the
channel 1 input.
Press Time & Period key until PERIOD 1 is displayed.
After a few seconds, 0.10000000000 s is displayed. Hence, the default
number of digits (or resolution) displays a precise measurement.
