Charging the Battery

The gigabeat is equipped with a built-in battery. When the AC adapter is connected to the
gigabeat, charging begins automatically.
You can charge the gigabeat by connecting the AC adapter directly or using the Battery
Charging Stand.
Set the BATTERY switch on the rear of the main unit to
ON.
Insert the connection plug of the AC adapter into the AC
adapter jack on the gigabeat or the Battery Charging
Stand ( 1 in the figure).
Insert the power cable into the AC adapter ( 2 in the
figure).
Insert the plug of the power cable into the outlet ( 3 in
the figure).

If you are using the gigabeat for the first time after purchase, or when the
gigabeat hasn't been used for a prolonged period, fully charge the battery
beforehand.

This switch prevents over-discharge of the
battery after shipment.
Perform this operation if you are using the
gigabeat for the first time after purchase.
If you will not be using the gigabeat for a
prolonged period, set the BATTERY switch to
OFF.
