INTRODUCTION
'l'his manual provides the information needed
to order field replaceable parts for
BR3C9,
BR3E4, BR3ES
Disk Storaqe
Um
t (DSU).
Information
within this
manual
is
provided by
representative
filUBtratioDs
and their companion
parts
lists. The parts shown on the mustratioDS
are
assigned
index
numbers. These numbers cross
reference
the filUBtrations
to the associated parts
lists. The first m.ustrati0D in the manual shows
the complete DSU. Subsequent filustrations pro-
gressively break
the
unit
down
into its component
parts
and assemblies.
The parts lists associated
with
each nlustration
are organized
in
four columns:
• The Index
Number
column cross references
the applicable entry
to
the
associated filustration.
When more than one entry
is
given for a particular
index number. the use
of
the particular part
is
defined in the
Notes co1wan.
• The Part Number column provides
the
eight
digit number by
which
a part may be ordered. In
some cases the last two
~ts
(referred to as Tab
numbers) may be shown as "xx". This situation
exists when an assembly (which
is
not normally
83318300 D
considered field replaceable) changes
tab
numbers
rapidly in the course
of
DOrmal factory buUd.
If
it is
necessary to order an assembly which is cata-
10gued
In this
manner. the actual
part
number can
usually be f01.U1d on the part number label attached
to
the
assembly.
If the
actual
part
number cannot
be determined. be
sure
to include on the order the
series
code of the
machine. and a
listing
of
all
the
change orders installed.
• The Description column provides
the
part
nomenclature.
This
column also provides informa-
tion on the relationship of
parts and
assemblies.
This is
accomplished by means of indentation
within
the column.
An
indented item
is
part
of
a previoUS
assembly wb1ch
is
indented
to
a lesser degree.
The
Notes column is used to show differ-
ences in cODflguration when more than one configu-
ratioD
of
a machine
is
covered
in the
manual.
This
is
shown by ideDtUying a Model Level
(Mod
A),
"by identifyinq a machine series code
and
chanqe order number (SIC
10
with
PE3SS37),
or by identifying the last two digits of the
eight diqit assembly part number to which
the
particu~ar
part applies (Tab
17).
