makes the MD capabie of recording high quality audia.
The MD recorder records audio data by compressing
it 1o
about 1/5 by cutting the audio at the inaudible levels to hu-
man
ears. This technology is referred to as ATRAC (Adap-
tive TRansform Acoustic Coding}. This unit analyzes perma-
nently the frequency characteristics of audio signal
ali the
time using a DSP, and performs highly precise controi of the
ATRAC so that more data is allocated to the frequency band
containing most audio signal. This makes possible record-
ing with more musical pleasure and higher fidelity in audio
reverberation reproduction than before.
