Check 2
Determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform the Problem Definition Process. If the problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 4
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the FDD LED is operating properly. To
perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
(A) Verify that the computer is turned on using the Power button on the front of
the computer (See Figure 2-2 for computer switch (button) locations).
(B) Determine if the FDD LED illuminates when the FDD is accessed.
If the FDD LED illuminates, perform Check 2. If the FDD LED does not
illuminate, perform Procedure 9.
Check 2
Determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform the Problem Definition Process. If the problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 5
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the CD-ROM drive LED is operating
properly. To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
(A) Verify that the computer is turned on using the Power button on the front of
the computer (See Figure 2-2 for computer switch (button) locations).
(B) Determine if the CD-ROM drive LED illuminates when the drive is accessed.
If the CD-ROM drive LED illuminates, perform Check 2. If the CD-ROM drive
LED does not illuminate, perform Procedure 10.
Check 2
Determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform the Problem Definition Process. If the problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 6
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the system board is providing the appropriate
voltages to the Power/Sleep LED. To perform this procedure, perform the following Check.
Check
Measure the voltages between pins 18 and 20 at J10K1 (Power/Sleep LED
connector) on the system board when the system is in Sleep mode.
If the voltage alternates between 5VDC and 0VDC, perform Procedure 8. If the
voltage does not alternate between these two voltages, perform Procedure 13.
