Battery / Frash Backup Unit for RAID Controller

If a RAID Controller (N8103-172/173/174/161/168) is installed with a battery or Flash Backup Unit (FBU), you
can avoid data loss caused by accidents including temporary blackout during Write Back operation. The model
of the battery or FBU to be used depends on RAID Controller.
For N8103-172/173/174, use N8103-154
For N8103-161/168, use N8103-161/168 accessories Flash Backup Unit (FBU)

1.11.1 Handling precautions

Described below are the precautions to be observed whenever using the battery or FBU. Be sure to observe
the following, otherwise property such as data or other devices might be destroyed.
Use the battery or FBU dedicated to the RAID Controller you are using.
The battery or FBU is a very delicate electronic device. Before installation, touch the metal frame part of
the server to discharge the static electricity from your body.
Do not drop or bump the battery or FBU.
For recycling and disposing of the battery or FBU, refer to the User's Guide that comes with it.

1.11.2 Installing battery (N8103-154)

This section describes the procedure of installing a battery for RAID Controller (N8103-172/173/174).

Refer to steps 1 to 6 in Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal) for preparations.

If no RAID controller is installed, install a RAID controller in PCI slot.
Connect SAS/SATA cable according to Chapter 2 (1.18 Use of Internal hard disk drives in the RAID
System).
