Chapter 6 - AX-1 System Control Circuits

Overview

There are three microprocessors controlling various functions on the AX-1 chassis. The Main Microprocessor
(IC0001), Platform (PF) Microprocessor (IC0002) and the ATI Microprocessor (Q-Box) all interface with and
control specific functions on the AX-1 chassis.

The Main Microprocessor receives inputs from the user interface controls, such as the front panel Key Scan,
Power Button and IR Sensor. The I
Microprocessor to execute Video and Audio adjustments (e.g. color and volume). The Main Microprocessor also
communicates with the ATI Microprocessor (in the Q-Box) to control the ATSC tuner, Digital Menu, Memory Stick
and I-Link functions. The Main Microprocessor (IC0001) is basically the user interface microprocessor to the
other two microprocessors (PF and ATI), which execute the actual functions to control circuits under their command.
The Main Microprocessor also performs the power control, audio muting and some OSD functions. The OSD
information from the Main Microprocessor is for the User Menu and All Service Mode menus except for the
Service Mode PJED menus.
