Upgrading or Replacing Memory

Your DSN-1100 st orage syst em support s up t o 1 GB of buf f er(cache) memory and 512 MB of
syst em memory using a t ot al of t wo Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) socket s on t he DSN-
1100 st orage syst em Cont roller:
One DIMM socket s ( J14 ) is f or buf f er (cache) memory.

One DIMM socket ( J15 ) is f or syst em memory.

Syst em Memory : The xSt ack St orage cont roller can address up t o 512MB of syst em memory.
Your cont roller comes st andard wit h 256MB (1 x 256MB module). Please see Figures A-10 and
A-12 f or t he syst em memory locat ion.
Buffer (Cache) Memory : The xSt ack St orage cont roller can address up t o 1GB of buf f er
memory, and comes st andard wit h 256MB (1 x 256MB modules) inst alled. This should work
well f or most applicat ions. However, several applicat ions (such as video st reaming) of t he
product could benef it f rom increased cache memory. Please see Figures A-10 and A-11 f or
buf f er memory locat ion. Not e on Memory: Table A-1 list s t he specif icat ions f or DIMMs
support ed by t he xSt ack St orage Array. These memory module specif icat ions are crucial t o
t he operat ion of your SAN array. Please visit t he
memory modules.
Table A-2 shows t he possible memory conf igurat ions f or your xSt ack St orage cont roller.
