• The APX 1000 radio has a vent port that allows for pressure equalization
in the radio. Never poke this vent with any objects, such as needles,
tweezers, or screwdrivers. This could create a leak path into the radio and
the radio's splash protection reliability will be lost.
• The pressure equalization vent is located adjacent to the battery contact
opening of the main chassis. Never touch the equalization vent. Ensure
that no oily substances come in contact with this vent.
• Do not submerge the radio as this results in damage to the radio.
• If water is observed on the battery contact area, dry and clean the radio
battery contacts before attaching a battery to the radio. Otherwise, the
water could short-circuit the radio.
• If water is observed on the speaker grille area, shake the radio well so that
any water that is trapped inside the speaker grille and microphone port
can be removed. Otherwise, the water will decrease the audio quality of
the radio.
