re 3343c: the motor is spinning but the needle is not moving up and down. [i.e., not sewing] i think that i may have broken the machine because the table on which it stands tilted and the sewing machine fell on the floor. it lights up and the motor runs, but it does not engage the needle. i **** almost 90 and it would be a hardship for me to take it to a repair shop. can you give me some advice to try to repair it myself. not: i got my first singer sewing machine as a birthday present when i was 15, in 1951. it still works beautifully, as does my mother's foot pedal singer of 1930's vintage. thank you.

If the needle on the Singer 2502 sewing machine is not moving up and down while the motor is spinning, the issue is likely due to one of the following reasons:
1. Disengaged Clutch or Loose Handwheel: - The clutch in the handwheel may have been disengaged, which is typically done when winding a bobbin. Check the handwheel and ensure the clutch knob is tightened.
2. Broken or Worn Drive Belt: - The drive belt connects the motor to the machine's internal mechanisms. If the belt is broken, loose, or worn out, the motor will spin without transferring motion to the needle. Inspect and replace the belt if necessary.
3. Internal Mechanical Issue: - A jammed or broken internal part, such as a gear or linkage, might prevent the needle bar from moving. Inspect the machine for signs of damage or obstruction.
4. Motor Pulley or Gear Issue: - If the motor pulley or its gear is slipping or not properly engaged, it can cause the motor to spin without moving the machine parts.
5. Thread or Debris Jam: - Thread or debris stuck in the machine may block movement. Clean the machine thoroughly, especially around the bobbin case and feed dogs.
6. Lack of Lubrication: - If the machine is not properly lubricated, internal components may seize. Apply sewing machine oil to the recommended areas as per the user manual.
Check these areas step-by-step to identify and fix the problem. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician.
