To loosen the tension on the serpentine belt of a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0, follow these steps:

1. Remove the Passenger Tire – Take off the passenger-side front wheel to access the belt system.
2. Remove the Plastic Fender Liner – Take off the plastic cover around the fender to expose the pulley system.
3. Identify the Tensioner Pulley – Locate the tensioner pulley, which is the smooth pulley without grooves.
4. Loosen the Main Nut – Loosen the central nut on the tensioner pulley.
5. Adjust the Tension Bolt – Tighten or loosen the bolt underneath the pulley to adjust the belt tension.
6. Remove the Belt – Once the tension is reduced, remove the serpentine belt to replace the frozen pulley.
7. Reinstall and Adjust – After replacing the pulley, reverse the process. Tighten the tension bolt to the proper tension, then secure the main nut.

This process allows the belt to be loosened for pulley replacement.
