    Always use a hospital grade, AC power cable to connect the pulse oximeter to an AC power source. CAUTION: DO NOT CONNECT THE RAD-8 PULSE OXIMETER TO AN AC OUTLET CONTROLLED BY A SWITCH. Verify the AC power voltage and frequency before use. Verify that the power source can provide adequate power rating as indicated on the rear panel.

    PULSE OXIMETER IS CONNECTED TO THE AC MAIN POWER SUPPLY. INITIAL INSTALLATION Place the Rad-8 on a stable hard flat surface near the patient. Always place the Rad- on a dry surface. Maintain a minimum of 1 inch (2.54 cm) free space around the device.

    ■ Read the sensor Directions for Use for proper sensor application. MASIMO PULSE OXIMETRY SENSORS Before use, carefully read the Masimo sensor Directions for Use. Use only Masimo sensors for pulse oximetry measurements. Tissue damage can be caused by incorrect application or use of a sensor, for example by wrapping the sensor too tightly.

    The pulsations from intra-aortic balloon support can cause the pulse rate displayed on the Rad-8 to be significantly different than the ECG heart rate. Once the battery is fully charged all Battery Charge Level Indicators illuminate green when unplugged.
