Lower the treadmill (see HOW TO LOWER THE
TREADMILL FOR USE on page 23). Remove the four
#8 x 3/4" Screws (4), and remove the Motor Hood
(44).
Next, locate the Reed Switch (20) and the Magnet
(12) on the left side of the Pulley (11). Turn the Pulley
until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and
the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). If neces-
sary, loosen the indicated #8 x 3/4" Washer Head
Screw (29), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then
retighten the Screw. Then, reattach the Hood (not
shown) with the six #8 x 3/4" Screws (not shown).
Run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a cor-
rect speed reading.
PROBLEM: The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly
SOLUTION: a. With the key in the console, press one of the Incline buttons. While the incline is changing, re-
move the key. After a few seconds, reinsert the key. The treadmill will automatically rise to the
maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level. This will recalibrate the incline system.
PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on
SOLUTION: a. Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page
11.
b. If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor-
mance may decrease and the walking belt may be-
come damaged. Remove the key and UNPLUG THE
POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both idler
roller bolts counterclockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the
walking belt is properly tightened, you should be able
to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in. (8 to 10
cm) off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the
walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord,
insert the key, and run the treadmill for a few minutes.
Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened.
c. If the walking belt still slows when walked on, please see the front cover of this manual.

To unfold the NordicTrack Commercial 1500 treadmill, follow these steps:

1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand.
2. Use your left thumb to press the storage latch to the left.
3. Pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rails move past the storage latch.
4. Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor.
5. To reduce the risk of injury, bend your legs and keep your back straight while lowering.

If the knob on the bar does not pull out, ensure that you are applying enough pressure to the storage latch while maintaining a firm grip on the treadmill. If it still does not release, check for any obstructions or misalignment in the latch mechanism.
