Install Vent System
Follow the instructions in appendix A.
Fireplace Restrictors & Vent Arrangement
The following drawing and table show the options allowed for both vertical and horizontal
positioning of the vents and the required restrictor for the burner 135 models.
With this information it is possible to find the allowable horizontal or vertical path of the
vent.
Where the symbol "*" appears the path is not allowed.
When the symbol is "0" there is no restriction
When there is a number, the number represents the width required for the size of
restrictor that has to be assembled. All these dimensions are shown in inches.
Vertical Elbows
If there are two 90-degree elbows in the vent system, an additional 6 feet must be added
to the (x) calculation for the restrictor plate size.
Example: Figure B on pg.26
Total height of duct work = 6 feet (Y)
Length between the center of two 90-degree elbows = (B) = 3 feet.
The (X) calculation to be used in the restrictor table is
(X) = (B) +6 feet, hence (X) length is 9 feet
Looking at the table on pg. 27 we have to use 0.79" restrictor plate.
The first 90-degree elbow is not taken into calculation of the (x) length for the restrictor
plate size.
Example: Figure C on pg. 26
Total height of duct work = 6 feet (Y)
Length between the center of 90-degree elbow and wall termination cap = (B) = 3ft.
The (X) calculation is (X) = (B) hence restrictor plate size is 1.97" per table on page.27
When you have vertical elbows of 45 degrees, no additional length for the (x) calculation
for the restrictor plate size is needed.
Example: Figure A on pg. 26
Total height of duct work = 6 feet (Y)
Length between the center of the two 45-degree elbow = (B) = 3ft.
The (X) calculation is (X) = (B) hence restrictor plate size is 1.97" per table on page.27
The tables apply to both Natural Gas and Propane.
NOTE:
1. Only two 90-degree elbows are allowed per installation. More than two 90-
degree elbows require manufacturer approval.
2. Please see restrictor table on pg. 27 for restrictor plate size.
