To connect a Canon EOS 30D to a laptop for monitoring, follow these steps:

1. Use the interface cable that came with the camera.
2. Connect one end of the cable to the camera’s

terminal, ensuring the icon on the plug is facing the front of the camera.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to the laptop’s USB port.
4. Turn the camera’s <4> switch to <1> or .
5. On the laptop, when the dialog box appears, select [EOS Utility] and click [OK].
6. When the camera model selection screen appears, select [EOS 30D] and click [OK].
7. The [EOS Utility] screen will appear on the laptop, and the direct image transfer screen will appear on the camera’s LCD monitor.

Before disconnecting, turn off the camera first and unplug the cable by holding the plug, not the cord.
