CAUTION: < Switch off all the equipment before making connection. < Read the instructions of each component you intend to use with this unit. Amplifier or digital audio device (CD recorder, MD deck, etc.) DIGITAL IN DIGITAL IN (COAXIAL) (OPTICAL) Connect one of the cables as shown Connection (1) - Page 7 Analog audio output terminals Use either the XLR or RCA (pin) terminals for 2-channel analog stereo output. Use commercially available XLR or RCA audio cables: XLR: Use a balanced XLR digital cable RCA: Use an RCA audio cable Connect the R terminal on this unit to the right (R) terminal of the amplifier and the L terminal on this unit to the left (L) terminal of the amplifier.

< Although the power cord socket is 3 pin type, it is not connected to chassis. < Use only the supplied Esoteric power cord. Use of other power cords may result in fire or electric shock. Unplug the power cord when you are not going to use the unit for an extended period of time. -
Page 9: Front Panel Features (Main Unit)
POWER Use this button to turn the unit on and off. The indicator ring changes depending on the operation status below: Blue (on): The POWER button of the main unit is ON. Off: The POWER button of the main unit is OFF. When you do not use the unit, make sure to turn off the unit. -

Disc type indicator Shows the type of disc currently loaded CD or SACD. Note: This display also lights when DVD video, DVD audio or Video CD discs are loaded (but playback of these types of discs is not possible with this unit). REPEAT indicator Lights when repeat play mode is selected. -
Page 11: Understanding The Remote Control Unit
Press to select one of four brightness levels for the display and indicator lamps (page 15). SETUP This button does not work on the X-05 (it is only used on Esoteric audio video disc players for menu setup functions). OPEN/CLOSE (L) Use this button to open and close the disc tray (page 13). -

Remote Control Unit Notes on use < Point the remote control unit at the main unit’s remote sensor within seven meters (23 feet) of the main unit. There should not be any obstacles between the player and the remote control unit. <... -
Page 13: Selecting The Playback Area
Pausing playback Press the PAUSE button (J) to pause playback and the indicator ring of the PLAY button (y) blinks. Press the PLAY button (G) or the PAUSE button (J) to restart playback. Stopping playback During playback, press the STOP button (H) to stop playback. Opening and closing the tray Pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button (L) opens the tray if it is closed, and closes it if it is open. -

Playback (2) Selecting a track Use the number button to select tracks for playback in playback or stop mode. Example: To play track 3, press 3. To play track 12 press 10 and 2. Skipping playback Press the SKIP button (. or /) repeatedly until the desired track is found. -

Display dimming The display on the main unit can be dimmed to suit the environment in which you listen to music. Use the DIMMER button to cycle between these settings. FL Dimmer3: Full brightness FL Dimmer2: Medium brightness FL Dimmer1: Minimum brightness OFF: The display and indicators are off. -

This feature is used when you want to get your whole system locked to a single sync signal (clock) by connecting this unit to the Esoteric AI-10, AZ-1, G-03X, G-0Rb, G25U, G-0/G-0s or other devices that are capable of outputting a sync signal (word clock). -

< If the component connected via the i.LINK terminal is compatible with flow rate control, the connected component will work in the flow rate control mode. Flow rate control is an Esoteric technology that maximizes signal transfer rate between i.LINK devices. 2ch/Multi ch Press to select 2ch (2-channel stereo) or MULTI (multi-channel surround) audio output. -

If you have optionally upgraded to add the i.LINK connection, then the i.LINK terminal becomes operational. The i.LINK is also known as IEEE 1394, an international specification. By connecting an i.LINK (AUDIO)-capable device to the i.LINK (AUDIO) terminal on this unit using an i.LINK cable, you can transmit Super Audio CD multi-channel signals (that could not be transmitted except in analog format in the past), can now be transmitted in their original multi-channel digital... -
