II. OPERATING ONA SLOPE
Slopesare a majorfactorrelatedto slip
andfall accidents whichcan resultin
severeinjury. All slopesrequireextra
caution.If youfeel uneasy on a slope,
do notmowit.
DO:
Mow across the face of slopes; n ever
up and down, Exerciseextreme
cautionwhen changingdirection on
slopes.Avoid slopes greaterthan 15°.
Removeobjectssuch as rocks, tree
limbs, etc.
Watchfor holes,ruts, or bumps.Tall
grass can hide obstacles.
DONOT:
Do notmowneardrop-offs, d itches,
or embankments. Theoperator could
loosefooting or balance.
Do not mow excessively s teepslopes.
On notmow on wet grass.Reduced
footing could cause slipping.
III. CHILDREN
Tragicaccidents can occuril the
operatoris not alert to the presenceof
children.Childrenare oftenattracted to
the mowerandto the mowing activity.
Neverassumethat childrenwill remain
whereyoulast sawthem.

whenthe engineis running.
Allow engineto cool before
refueling. Donot smoke.

wire. Inspectthe mower and repair, if
necessary,beforerestarting.

Nevertamper with safetydevices.
Checktheir operationregularly.
Keepmower free of grass,leavesor
otherdebrisbuild-up. C leanup oilor
fuel spillage.Allow mower to cool
beforestoring.
Do not change theenginegovernor
setting or overspeed t he engine.
Do not touch engine parts which may
behot from operation.Allow parts to
cool completelybefore inspecting,
cleaningor repairingthe mower.
