The Craftsman 88957 snow thrower may stall when the primer button is not pumped due to one or more of the following reasons:

1. Stale or Insufficient Fuel – The fuel may be old or there may not be enough fuel in the tank.
2. Faulty or Dirty Spark Plug – A spark plug that is dirty, improperly gapped, or faulty can cause stalling.
3. Choke Not in Correct Position – If the choke is not properly adjusted, the engine may not get the right fuel-air mixture.
4. Fuel Delivery Issues – A clogged fuel line or carburetor may prevent a consistent fuel supply, requiring priming to keep the engine running.
5. Air Leak in Carburetor or Intake System – Air leaks can cause improper fuel mixture, leading to stalling.
6. Extension Cord Not Connected (For Electric Start Models) – If using an electric start, the extension cord must be properly connected.

Checking and addressing these issues should help prevent stalling without needing to repeatedly pump the primer button.
