Step 1—Preparing the workstation Introduction This section describes how to prepare your workstation for disassembly. Procedure: preparing the workstation for disassembly To prepare the workstation for component installation: Step Action Power down the workstation. Disconnect power from the workstation. Open the access cover. Procedure: installing the 8-port SAS RAID controller card To install the card: Step Action Release the PCI retainer levers by first pressing down on them and then out (1), and remove the applicable PCI slot cover (2).
- Page 5 Step Action Attach the SAS adapter supplied with the HP workstation SAS hard drive to the data connector on the rear of the SAS hard drive. In preparation for cable connection, identify the 8-port controller card connectors. The LED cable connector (1), the internal data connector (2), and the external data connector (3) are shown in the following figure.
- Page 6 Step Action Attach one end of the hard drive activity LED cable to the 8-port SAS RAID controller card (1). Attach the other end of the hard drive activity LED cable to the hard drive LED activity connector on the system board (2). Step 3—Reassembling the workstation After installing the 8-port SAS RAID controller card, use the instructions in your workstation documentation to reassemble the workstation. Reassembly includes reinstalling the side access panel and restoring power to the workstation.
