Check the function of all bilge pumps at regular intervals. Clear pump inlets
from debris. If seacocks are fitted in the fore and aft peak bulkheads, they
shall be kept closed and shall only be opened to let water drain into the
main bilges.
11.5. COVER
We recommend you to cover your boat with a boat cover if you want to
keep the high quality of the surfaces and the fittings. Depending on the
place where your boat is situated you can get an all-year cover (optional –
please ask your dealer).
The cover was designed for the following way of handling : Start to
uncover your boat from the stern to the bow and do it the other way around
if you want to cover it. The cover is fixed with a tightening rope around.
While taking delivery please ask that you are shown how to cover the boat.
You should better leave the cover on land while you are cruising.
If you want to take the cover with you, you can put it into the stowage
space under the seats, which is intended for it. Be careful that the cover
rope is not exposed to the turning parts of the engine.
11.6. WINDSHIELD
Your rigid boat comes equipped with a tempered glass windshield. When
cleaning use clean, fresh water and wipe with a soft cloth. This windshield
is optional for inflatable boats.
11.7. STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is not entirely resistant to corrosion and must be looked
after properly and regularly. To do this, always wash stainless steel
equipment with fresh water and soap after each use. Do not use scouring
powders, abrasives, bleach or acids when cleaning.
NORTHSTAR MANUAL
Whenever you see sign of rust on your stainless steel, use chrome polish
to remove them. If this is not done, these rust spots may develop into
pitting which will ruin the stainless steel. When waxing your boat, wax your
stainless hardware too.
11.8. REPAIRS
Please consult your dealer who can give you good advice and can order
the suitable spare parts if you want to repair your boat by yourself. You
should leave extensive repairs at the hull or at the engine to experts. Do
not attempt to repairs, which you are not trained to handle. Your dealer will
take over such repairs and will give the job to an expert.
11.9. REPAIRS – FABRIC
Your inflatable boat is provided with a fabric repair kit. In case of small
punctures, this kit can be used to patch these. Detailed instructions are
found on how to carry out tube repairs.
11.10. CORRECT MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS
NorthStar boats are designed for the harsh marine environment and are
certified for applicable safety standards.
To keep these qualities, please let your dealer handle work and repairs on
your boat. You could endanger your safety and lose your warranty
because of improperly installed equipment or wrong choice of equipment.
If you order spare parts, always order quoting your boat's/engine's serial
number. Hull serial number (HIN), on NorthStar boats, is found on
starboard side of the transom and is molded in gelcoat.
11.11. WINTER STORAGE
For wintering, your boat can be lifted out of the water by a special crane
with traverse or by trailer.
