  • Page 14 GETTING STARTED Hose Connection Connect the end of the hose (female connector) to the turbine air outlet located on the front of the turbine. This is a simple threaded connector. Hand-tight is enough – it is not necessary to use a wrench.
  • Page 15 CUP HOLDER INSTALLATION studioTAN and salonTAN Cup Holder Attachment ™ ™ The two holes on the top of the cup holder require the black screws and washers included with this hardware. These screws fit into threaded inserts in the metal case. Do not over-tighten. The single silver-colored screw must be installed to the single side hole of the cup holder.
  • Page 16 APPLICATOR USE FT-5 Applicator Features Selecting a Cup Size The FT-5 Applicator comes with 2 cup sizes: 150cc Cup This cup is pre-installed on the FT-5 Applicator. It is ideal for smaller tanning sessions for 1-2 tans. 250cc Cup This cup is included with the FT-5 Applicator. It is ideal for larger tanning sessions for 3-4 tans.
  • Page 17 Cup Removal and Lids Removing and Attaching Cup To remove the cup, hold it firmly and turn it counter- clockwise. If fluid is in the cup, it is best to do this on a flat surface to avoid spilling. Remember not to fill the cup past the fill line as indicated. To reattach the cup, turn the cup clockwise until tight and properly sealed.
  • Page 18 Spray Patterns Choosing A Pattern The pattern orientation can be adjusted by changing the angle of the air cap. A spray pattern width can be chosen by adjusting the pattern control. This pattern is used This pattern is used when spraying when spraying side up and down.
  • Page 19 Fluid Output Selecting The Fluid Output The rear dial on all of the applicators is the fluid control. This setting will allow you to change how much tanning solution comes out of the applicator when the trigger is fully pressed. To adjust the fluid output, turn the fluid control knob on the rear of the applicator.
  • Page 20 SPRAYING TECHNIQUE When spraying, move the applicator at a medium, steady speed, keeping the distance of the applicator the same throughout the spray application. If you wish to change the direction of the spray pattern, rotate the position of the aircap (see page 16) rather than tilting the applicator to its side.
  • Page 21 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Basic Applicator Cleaning Tanning solution should not be left in the cup attached to the applicator overnight. It can dry and harden, leaving a film throughout the applicator’s fluid passages. Over time, the fluid passages can become clogged. To prevent this, spray soapy water through the applicator periodically.
  • Page 22 Advanced Applicator Cleaning Do not soak the whole applicator in any liquid. This is never necessary or advisable.   • Page 23 • There is a locating pin on the back side of the diffuser. This pin must be placed into the matching hole in the air divider (#6), and into another matching hole in the gun body. The matching hole of the gun body is located at a 12 o’clock position.
  • Page 24 Turbine Maintenance The only regular maintenance required on the turbine is the cleaning and replacing of the filter(s). The turbines have either one or two filters. Remove based on the instructions below and wash the filter in warm soapy water. Dry before replacing back in the turbine.
