    An overview of Working with HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver. Who can benefit from reading this How-to Guide? This document is intended for owners, operators and CEs of HP Indigo 6600 (with Value Pack) / 6800 / 6900 Digital Presses for which HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver has been purchased.

    ● The press can print and calibrate HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver only as solid color. Silver gray-level calibration is not supported. Printing HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver as half tones reduces performance.
  • Page 7 BID bounce issues. ● It is recommended to use HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver with 2 hits in order to reach the OD (optical density) targets and best metallic appearance. The optimized color working point is based on 2 hits of ElectroInk Silver. Calibrations are performed on 2 hits of ElectroInk Silver.

    ● Continuous color calibration (CCC) does not support ElectroInk Silver. It is not recommended to use CCC with silver jobs. If you decide to work with CCC make sure that the Auto-Null adding on Bypasses > Processes screen double-hit printing bypass is selected in the Print Care (CE level) > (see figure above).

    Quick guide / overview to installing HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver and working with it The below procedure summarizes the steps needed to install the HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver and then work with this ink. For more information on each step, and troubleshooting, see additional instructions in this document.

    Installing the dedicated BID base and developer roller HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver uses a dedicated BID base and developer roller, designed to be used ONLY for this ink. Make sure to install this BID base (P/N C8Q11A) and developer roller (P/N C8Q12A) before using the HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver.

    Removing and storing ElectroInk Silver and If you are not using the HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver for a few days, do the following: Activate the ink pump for two minutes. Drain the ink into a clean container. The ElectroInk Silver solution can be kept in a closed container up to one month, provided that it is shaken once a week.

While manually rotating the BID, clean the rubber developer roller and the metallic squeegee roller with a lint-free wipe soaked with imaging oil. Put the old BID into the nylon bag that came with the new BID. Store the old BID in the original box for up to one year, for later reuse.
