Smart Line Modules

7.1

Description

Overview
Smart Line Modules are rectifiers that generate a DC voltage in the DC link from the 3-phase line
voltage.
Requirement
Note
Operation on line supplies where energy recovery is not possible
For line supply systems without energy recovery capability (e.g. a diesel generator), device
faults can occur as the braking energy cannot be dissipated.
• Deactivate the energy recovery function of the Smart Line Modules using parameter p3533.
• The braking energy must then be dissipated via an additional Braking Module with braking
resistor in the drive line-up.
Description
The Smart Line Module supplies power to the connected Motor Modules. It does this by
providing a non-regulated DC voltage at the DC link busbars. A Smart Line Module exhibits the
typical current and voltage waveforms of a 6-pulse diode rectifier bridge in infeed mode.
Smart Line Modules also have an unregulated energy recovery capability. In the energy
recovery mode, the current waveform is square waved. The energy recovery functionality can
be disabled if necessary using parameter p3533.
The DC link starts precharging as soon as the line voltage is applied and is independent of the
phase sequence direction of the line supply.
A main contactor can be installed on the line side if the system has to be electrically isolated
from the line supply.
