To remove the brewing unit for cleaning on the DeLonghi Rivelia:
1. Ensure the machine is completely turned off and unplugged.
2. Pull out the water tank and remove the lid.
3. Squeeze the red levers of the brewing unit inward while pulling it out.
4. Rinse off any coffee pulp gently.
5. Submerge the unit in water for 5 minutes (do not use any cleaning solution).
6. Take it out, wipe it dry with a paper towel, and avoid touching the metal filter.
7. Clean the cavity before reinserting the unit.
8. Reinsert the unit until it snaps into place.
9. Clean and reattach the lid, then put the water tank back.
The brewing unit should be cleaned every month.
