[6] Contents of drive self-diagnosis
STEP 1
(1) CD-LD LIFE CHECK
This checks the cumulative working time of the LD to
judge degradation status.
[NG] will be displayed if the working time exceeds 7000H.
LD current should be measured when the working time
exceeds 7000H since the failure date is 1 %.
(2) DVD-LD LIFE CHECK
Same as mentioned above.
(3) STEPPER CHECK
Detects malfunction of the stepper motor caused by
foreign materials/stuck, defect of inside switch, step loss
due to mechanical component defect, lack of lateral
pressure,
Ensures that the stepper motor works correctly using the
inside switch.
(4) OEIC CHECK
Detects OEIC drop and other failures frequently occurred
on 05SD/09SD.
Detects the failure by checking whether the disc is
inserted or not using a CD.
(5) DISC MOTOR CHECK
Detects the defect of the spindle motor.
Starts the spindle motor and checks the time to reach
2000 rpm.
(6) CD ERROR RATE CHECK
An error rate is measured and the final check is performed.

The worst value of the measured error rate is displayed
in "CD Error Rate Check" and "DVD Error Rate Check".
(7) DVD ERROR RATE CHECK
An error rate is measured and the final check is
performed.
(8) USER CD PHYSICAL CHECK
Distinguishes whether the cause of the error is due to
the disc or not when the user submitted a disc.
Checks the characteristic of the disc based on
automatic adjustment value.
Only CDs are accepted. (Judged based on precedents)
(9) USER CD SCRATCH CHECK
The error rate of the entire disc is measured per
1 minute, and best value and worst value are calculated.
The state of the disc is checked from those values.
(10) USER CD QUALITY CHECK
Same as mentioned above.
(11) USER CD DIRT CHECK
Same as mentioned above.
