Stereo cassette tape deck

When
the tape deck malfunctions,
it is easy to assume
that you should
consult
a service engineer.

However
certain
malfunctions
do not
require
Check the following
points before consulting
an engineer.
Phenomenon
The
tape
does
not
run
No
sound
Point assumed
to be malfunctioning
. Faulty connection
of the power
plug.
. The cassette
is not loaded
correctly.
. A non-standard
cassette
is used.
. lt is in the PAUSE
mode.
Countermeasures
. Insert the power
plug correctly
into the socket.
. Re-insert
the
cassette.
. Replace the cassette.
. Press the operation
button.
. Connection
between
the unit
and
the
stereo
system
is_
in-
correct.
. The Monitor switch () is set
to 'TAPE'.
. The Output level control (0) is
set to minimum.

. The erasure-prevention
tab of
the cassette tape is removed.
. The Recording level control
is set to minimum.
. Connection between the deck
and
the
stereo
system

level is too high.

. The head is dirty.
. The tape is worn.
Non-standard
tape is used.
. Tape contact
surfaces
are dirty.
. Check the connection.
. Check Monitor switch @)
. Adjust Output level control (0.
. Replace the cassette
tape or
close the tab hole using plastic
tape, etc.

. Set Recording level controls 8) to
match the input.
. Check the connection.
. Clean the head.
. Set to the correct recording level
using the recording
level control

to the correct
position matching
the tape.
. Clean the head.

cassette

surfaces
(the head, capstan,

roller, etc.).

not set correctly.
. Dolby noise reduction switch (2
is not set correctly.

not set to minimum.
. The erase
head
is dirty.

not set correctly.
. Clean the head.
. Set the button correctly to
match the tape.
. Set the switch
to
"'ON"' for
Dolby NR tape,
and to ''OFF''
for other tapes.
. Set the Recording level controls
to minimum.
. Clean the erase
head.

correctly to
match the tape.
