When attempting to cycle through images using the multi selector images only move about the frame. How to select different photos?

To select different photos on a Nikon D70 using the multi selector:

1. Display the photographs as small thumbnail images in the selected folder.
2. Use the multi selector to highlight an image.
3. Press the multi selector up to select the highlighted image; a mark will appear on the selected image.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to select additional pictures.
5. To deselect a picture, press the multi selector down when the number of prints is 1.
6. To exit without making changes, press the appropriate button.

The multi selector can be used when the monitor is on, but the focus selector lock switch must be off.
