    Packing List is attached to the outside of the carton. Each controller of the OceanStor 5110 V5/5300 V5 is equipped with four GE electrical ports. Each controller enclosure of the OceanStor 5500 V5 is equipped with four SmartIO ports that do not support IP Scale-out networking. The following sections describe the process for installing the OceanStor 5500 V5.

    2 Installing Devices Planning device installation positions Total required cabinet space = 2 U + 2 U x (Number of 2 U disk enclosures) + 4 U x (Number of 4 U disk enclosures) For example, if the OceanStor 5500 V5 is equipped with three 2 U disk enclosures and three 4 U disk enclosures, the space required by a cabinet is calculated as follows: 20 U = 2 U + 2 U x 3 + 4 U x 3 Note: The height of the storage system is measured by the unit of U.

Left guide rail Right guide rail (3) Loosen the screws and adjust the length of the ball bearing guide rail to be the same of the cabinet depth.

  • Page 9 Installing storage devices into the cabinet NOTICE  To avoid device damage, do not stack any components but install them onto guide rails.  If you remove controllers and disks for easily moving and installing enclosures, record the slots of these controllers and disks in advance.
  • Page 10 (3) Place the side step at the rear (excluding the inner rail) of the high-density disk enclosure onto the front bracket of the ball bearing guide rails, and slide the disk enclosure into the cabinet along the ball bearing guide rails (no manual alignment is required because the inner rail automatically connects to the middle rail).

    3 Connecting Cables A generic view of cable connections on the controller enclosure When the storage system has two or more controller enclosures configured, connect cables following instructions in the OceanStor 5000, 5000F, 6000, and 6000F V5 Series V500R007 Installation Guide. 3c, 3d, 3e, and 3f in the following figure indicate the section numbers in this document.

  • Page 15 Connecting enclosures Connect disk enclosures according to the following rules:  SAS expansion cables must be naturally bent, and a minimum of 97 mm (3.82 inches) clearance must be reserved in front of each enclosure for winding cables. The number of disk enclosures connected to the expansion ports on the controller enclosure cannot exceed the upper limit.

  • Page 17 Connecting the storage system to the network The controller enclosure can be connected to application servers using front-end ports. • 5110 V5/5300 V5 supports the following types of front-end ports: 8 Gbit/s FC, 16 Gbit/s FC, 32 Gbit/s FC, 10 Gbit/s Ethernet, 10 Gbit/s FCoE、GE electrical, 10GE electrical, 25 Gbit/s Ethernet, 40 Gbit/s Ethernet, and 100 Gbit/s Ethernet.
