Adjusting the Cutting Height

WARNING
Adjusting the cutting height may bring you into
contact with the moving blade, causing serious
injury.
• Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts
to stop.
• Do not put your fingers under the housing when
adjusting the cutting height.
CAUTION
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be
hot and can severely burn you. Keep away from the
hot muffler.
Adjust the cutting height as desired. Set the front wheels to
the same height as the rear wheels (Figure 10).
Note: To raise the machine, move the front cutting-height
levers rearward and the rear cutting-height levers forward.
To lower the machine, move the front cutting-height levers
forward and the rear cutting-height levers rearward.
1. Raise the machine
Note: The cutting height settings are 25 mm (1 in); 35 mm
(1-3/8 in); 44 mm (1-3/4 in); 54 mm (2-1/8 in); 64 mm
(2-1/2 in); 73 mm (2-7/8 in); 83 mm (3-1/4 in); 92 mm
(3-5/8 in); and 102 mm (4 in).

Starting the Engine

1. Hold the blade-control bar against the handle
(Figure 11).

2. Turn the ignition key (Figure 12) (electric-start models
only) or pull the recoil-start handle (Figure 13).
Note: When you pull the recoil-start handle, pull it
lightly until you feel resistance, then pull it sharply
(Figure 13). Allow the rope to return to the handle
slowly.
