LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS

Please read the instruction carefully before operating the unit.

  1. VOLUME: To adjust the volume

POWER SUPPLY

AC ADAPTOR
The supplied AC adaptor is suitable for use on AC main supplies of AC 100-240V 50/60Hz and should only be connected to a mains supply within these parameters.

  • The AC adaptor included with this unit is for its use only. Do not use it with other equipment.
  • Turn off the unit before unplugging the AC adaptor from the unit so as to avoid the unit being damaged.
  • When the unit is not going to be used for long time, disconnect the AC adaptor from the AC outlet.
  • Be sure to use it near the wall outlet and easily accessible. If a malfunction occurs, disconnect the plug from the wall outlet at once.
  • AC adaptor is used as the disconnect device. It shall remain readily operable and should not be obstructed during intended use. To be completely disconnected the apparatus from supply mains, the AC adaptor of the apparatus shall be disconnected from the mains socket outlet completely.
  • Never use an AC adaptor that is damaged, route power lead in a safe manner and make sure it is not subjected to trapping or pinching. If the power lead is damaged refer to a qualified service agent.
  • The AC adaptor must be unplugged from the DC jack for the unit to run on the batteries.

BATTERY OPERATION

  1. Remove the battery compartment door by applying thumb pressure to area indicated on battery door and then lift the door out and off the cabinet.
  2. Before inserting the batteries, observe the polarities (+ and -) of the battery, then relate the polarities to the engraved diagram inside the battery compartment, insert 4x 1.5V, R14/UM2/"C" batteries (not supplied) into the compartment.
  3. Replace the compartment door.


Before throwing any batteries away, consult your distributor who may be able to take them back for specific recycling.

NOTES:

  • Never recharge the batteries, apply heat to them or take them apart.
  • In order to avoid leakage, always remove the batteries when unit will not be used for a long period of time.
  • For optimal performance, alkaline batteries are recommended. These batteries must be replaced every six months.
  • The batteries need to be replaced when: The battery icon on the display becomes red, the volume decreases, or sound is distorted during operation.


Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.

TURNING ON/OFF THE UNIT

To turn on/off the unit, press and hold for 2 seconds.

SELECTING FUNCTION

When the unit is on, repeatedly press SOURCE button to select desired mode: FM, AUX or DAB.

ADJUSTING VOLUME

To increase or decrease the sound level, rotate VOLUME+/- clockwise or anticlockwise.
Note: In order to save the battery life time, the max.volume is 12 level when the unit is operated by battery. When connected by AC adaptor, maximum volume level can be reached 16 level.

SETTING THE TIME AND DATE

The first time you listen to DAB/DAB+ radio, the time and date of your product will be synchronized automatically to that broadcast by the DAB/DAB+ service in 24 hour mode, which is in line with daylight saving, so there is no need to set the time and date manually.
If you do wish to set the time and date manually, turn on the radio and follow the steps as below:

  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Rotate the SELECT knob to access <Main menu>. Press SELECT to enter this option.
  1. Press SELECT to enter <Time setup>, then <Set time> is displayed, press SELECT again to enter this option.
  2. Date will flash. Rotate the SELECT knob to set the day, month and year.
  3. The hour digits will flash. Rotate the SELECT knob to set the hour. Press the SELECT to confirm. Then the minute digits will flash. Rotate the SELECT knob to set the minutes. Press the SELECT to confirm.

When you confirm the time, the display returns to <Time setup>. You can now rotate the SELECT knob to set followings:

  • Clock format: 12/24 hour clock display.
  • Auto update: Auto update the time from radio or no update.
    Note: When do the setting in the menu, press the MENU button to return back to previous step.

LISTENING TO DAB/DAB+ RADIO

  1. Repeatedly press SOURCE button to select DAB mode. The radio will start automatic scan for DAB/DAB+ stations if it's the first time to use the unit. The display will change to "Scanning......". A progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found during the scan will also be displayed.
  2. When the scan is complete, the radio will select the first available station and begin to broadcast. Stations are listed in numerical and then alphabetical order by default.
    Note: The DAB/DAB+ radio station list is stored in the memory and so the next time you switch your radio on, the station search does not take place. It is possible to scan manually for stations by pressing the SCAN button.
  3. Rotate TUNING/SELECT knob to select through the list of stations. When the desired station is displayed, press the SELECT to confirm. There will be a short delay while your radio tunes to your selected station.

Notes:

  • If no broadcasts are found by DAB/DAB+ scan, "No station found" appears in the display.
  • For a better reception, extend the telescopic antenna or do the full scan again in another place.
  • During the search operation, the sound level is automatically muted.

LISTENING TO FM RADIO

In FM radio mode, rotate TUNING/SELECT knob to tune manually. Press SCAN button once or fast rotate TUNING/SELECT knob clockwise or anticlockwise to search automatically, the automatic search locates strong stations. Note: For a better reception, extend the telescopic antenna.

PRESET STATIONS

This unit can store 10 FM and 10 DAB/DAB+ stations.

Manual storage

  1. Repeatedly press SOURCE button to select FM or DAB band.
  2. Select a radio station.
  3. Press and hold PRESET button to enter preset store mode.
  4. Rotate TUNING/SELECT knob to select a channel. Note: If you choose a station that hasn't been allocated, "Empty" will be displayed. If the station has been allocated before, the FM frequency or DAB station name will be showed.
  5. Press SELECT to save it.
  6. Repeat step 2-5 to store other stations.
    Note: This unit has 3 quick preset buttons. Select a radio station, then press and hold P1/P2/P3 to store the station in preset channel 1/2/3 respectively.

Automatic storage
Press and hold SCAN button in FM mode, the unit will automatically locate and save the strong stations. When you store on a channel already been preset, the previous station will automatically be cleared and replaced by the new station.

LISTENING TO RADIO PRESETS

  1. Press SOURCE button to select FM or DAB band.
  2. Press PRESET once. "Preset Recall" will be displayed, then rotate TUNING/ SELECT knob to select your desire station.
  3. Press SELECT to confirm your selection
    Note: To recall the stations in preset channel 1/2/3, simply press the button P1/P2/ P3 respectively.

SETTING THE ALARM AND THE ALARM MODE

  1. When unit is on, press and hold button to access alarm setting mode. Select <Alarm 1> or <Alarm 2>, then press SELECT to confirm.
  2. Enable: Off, Daily, Once, Weekdays, Weekends
    • Off: The alarm is off.
    • Daily: The alarm will sound every day.
    • Once: The alarm will sound one time only.
    • Weekdays: The alarm will sound on weekday only. (Monday to Friday)
    • Weekends: The alarm will sound on weekend only. (Saturday and Sunday)
  3. Time: To set the alarm time
  4. Mode: To set the wake-up source: DAB, FM or BUZZER.
  5. Preset: Select the last-listened radio station or desired preset radio station. This option is only available when wake-up source is DAB or FM.
  6. Volume: To set the alarm volume
  7. Saved: Select this option and press SELECT to confirm all above settings. Indicator will be lights up.

Notes:

  • Alarm setting is also available in standby mode.
  • Be sure connect the AC adaptor when using the alarms. Alarm function cannot be used when using the unit on batteries.
  • Preset the station before you select the wake up source by preset stations.
  • If you wake up with last radio, select your desire station, then turn off the radio before alarm time reaches. For the station selecting, please refer to "Listen to DAB/ DAB+ radio" and "Listen to FM radio".

Stopping the alarm

  1. Alarm repetition
    Press SNOOZE or SELECT. The alarm stops temporally and will sound again 5 minutes later. The snooze indicator will be blink.

    Note: Repeatedly press SNOOZE button to set the desired snooze time: 5,10,15,30 minutes. The default snooze time is 5 minutes.
  2. Alarm stop
    Press or to stop the alarm.
    Notes:
  • When "Daily" is set, the alarm will sound again the next day at the same time.
  • When "Once" is set, the alarm will not sound again. The alarm indicator will light off.
  • When "Weekdays" is set, the alarm will sound again on next weekday (Monday to Friday) at the same time.
  • When "Weekends" is set, the alarm will sound again the following Saturday or Sunday at the same time.
  1. Alarm Cancellation
    Press and hold access alarm setting mode. Rotate SELECT knob to select <Alarm 1> or <Alarm 2>, then press SELECT to confirm. Rotate SELECT knob to select <Enable> and press SELECT to confirm. Rotate SELECT to select "Off" and press SELECT to confirm. Rotate SELECT to select <Saved> and press SELECT to confirm. The indicator turn off.

SLEEP FUNCTION

When the unit is on. To fall asleep with the radio, repeatedly press to select 15-30-45-60-90-120 minutes of listening, press SELECT to confirm. The sleep indicator will show on display. The unit will automatically turn off after the specified time. To cancel the sleep function, repeatedly press button until "Sleep off" display, press SELECT button to confirm.

SETUP MENU

When the unit is on, press MENU button to access setting menu. Rotate SELECT knob to select an option and/ or adjust the setting, then press SELECT to confirm.
Note: The " " will be displayed next to the current setting.

FM Setting Menu
Audio setting

To select between "Stereo or mono" or "Mono only" for the FM radio.

Main menu

  • Time setup
    Refer to the operations in section "SETTING THE TIME AND DATE".
  • EQ
    To set EQ (equalizers) mode as desired: EQ off/ Bass boost/ Jazz/ Live/ Vocal/ Acoustic
  • Backlight
  1. Select <Timeout> and press SELECT to enter to this option.
  2. Rotate SELECT knob to select your desire backlight timeout in seconds: Always on > 10 > 20 > 30 > 45 > 60 > 90 > 120 >180. Then press SELECT to confirm your setting.
  3. Enter <Level> to select the background brightness by rotating SELECT knob, then press SELECT to confirm.
  • Language
    To select the desired language of the unit's menu: English, Français, Deutsch and Nederlands.
  • Factory reset
    To restore to factory default settings.
  • SW version (software version)
    To review the current software version.

Scan setting
To choose "All stations" or "Strong station" to select the search mode when scan radio station.

DAB/DAB+ Setting Menu
Station list

You can review the station list after proceed full scan.

Full Scan
This function allows you to automatically scan and create a list of receivable DAB broadcasts.

Manual Tune
This function can be used to assist the positioning of antenna or the unit, to enhance specific channel or frequency reception ability.

Station order
Multiplex: Stations are listed in numerical and then alphabetical order.
Alphanumeric: Stations are listed in alphabetical order.
Active: stations are listed according to the signal strength of stations

DRC (Dynamic range compression)
DRC can make quieter sounds easier to hear when the unit is used in a noisy environment.
Rotate SELECT knob to select your desire DRC level: off, low, high DRC off - no compression. This is the default setting.
DRC low - medium compression.
DRC high - maximum compression.
Note: DRC is effective only in dynamic range compression broadcast.

Prune station
Remove stations that are listed but unavailable. This function can remove all invalid stations indicated in the station list.

Please refer to the <FM setting menu> - <Main menu>.

AUX IN Setting Menu
Please refer to the <FM setting menu> - <Main menu>
Note: EQ is unavailable in AUX mode.

REVIEWING MORE INFORMATION

Repeatedly press INFO button to review some unit settings(e.g. date) or available information(e.g. radio text, program type, strength) for the station you are listening.

USING HEADPHONES / EARPHONES (NOT INCLUDED)

Maximum output voltage ≤ 150mV
HEADPHONE VOLUME WARNING
Connect earphones with the volume set low and increase it if required. Prolonged listening through some earphones at high volume settings can result in hearing damage. When headphones/earphones are connected, no sound will be emitted from the unit's speaker.

Avoid listening to sound at levels which may be harmful to your ears.
To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

CONNECTING AUXILIARY SOURCE

  1. Connect your auxiliary source (e.g. mp3 player) to the AUX IN jack on the unit (cable not included).
  2. Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select AUX IN mode.
  3. Start playback from your auxiliary source.
  4. Adjust the volume to desired level.
  5. To stop playback, disconnect your auxiliary source from the AUX IN jack.
