Getting Started

Before you begin, place the speaker on a firm and level surface.

Plug the cord from the AC power supply into the connector on the rear of the speaker.
Slide on the AC power adapter for your region. Plug the AC power supply into an AC (mains) power outlet. You will hear a short tone indicating that a power connection has been made.
Firmly insert your iPod or iPhone into the dock. The iPod or iPhone charges while docked.
Note: You may need to remove your iPod or iPhone case in order to properly dock the device.

Playing music: Open a music app on your iPod or iPhone and use the onscreen menu to select, play, and pause music.

Adjuting the volume: Touch the + or - buttons on the front of the speaker, or use the volume controls on your iPod or iPhone.

Connecting another source

Connect another source to the connector on the rear of the speaker, using a 3.5 mm audio cable (not provided).
To ensure optimal volume control from the SoundDock XT speaker, set the source volume to 75% of maximum.
To play the AUX source (if you also have a docked iPod or iPhone), pause the music on the iPod or iPhone, or exit the music app, then press and hold the + and – buttons at the same time for two seconds. Repeat to switch back to the docked iPod or iPhone.

Troubleshooting

iPod or iPhone does not dock properly or will not charge:

Check for obstructions in the dock connectors and re-seat your iPod or iPhone.
Remove your iPod or iPhone case.

No sound/low sound

Make sure the speaker has AC power.
Turn the speaker volume up and ensure the source is playing. Adjust the volume using the + and - buttons on the speaker, or the volume controls on the iPod or iPhone.
Remove the iPod or iPhone from the dock for five seconds, then firmly re-seat it.
If you are using an AUX source, set its volume to 75% of maximum.
Unplug the power cord for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. This resets the speaker.
