  • Page 14 SAFE OPERATION In a narrow space, have an assistant perform guidance in the direction of travel, and operate CAUTION the forklift truck following the guidance of the assistant. Always look in the direction of travel! CAUTION ● Always be aware of people near your forklift truck. Do not proceed near them until they are aware of you.

WARNING ● Always operate the key switch, steering wheel and levers while in the operator's compartment. ● If any part of your body or your work clothes catch- es a lever, the mast equipment may unexpectedly move, and then your hands or feet could be pinched.
  • Page 20 SAFE OPERATION Do not travel or lift a load up or down with the forks tilted forward. CAUTION ● Tilt the fork up enough to stabilize the load. Drive into a trailer carefully. CAUTION ● Make sure the trailer brakes are set and the wheels are blocked while loading or unloading.
  • Page 21 SAFE OPERATION ● Do not pick the loads up beyond the load backrest extension height. Otherwise, the load could fall towards the operator. CAUTION ● The load should properly contact the load backrest extension. ● When handling double-stacked loads, fasten them together with a rope to prevent the load from falling down.
  • Page 22 SAFE OPERATION Make sure the fork set pins are applied correctly. CAUTION ● If the forks are not secured, the forks will move while handling the load and this may cause the load to shift and fall down. Be careful not to pinch your hands while adjust- ing the fork position.
  • Page 23 SAFE OPERATION When parking a forklift truck, observe the fol- lowing items: CAUTION ● Retract the mast and tilt the forks forward. ● Lower the forks to the ground ● Remove the key from the key switch. ● If the forks are not lowered ti the ground, they may contact the legs or the body of pedestrians.

    The icon that is referred to as "Read the operator's MODE manual" will be displayed. If malfunction is detected, an error code and safety monitor NOTE symbol will be displayed. Contact NICHIYU local dealer if the error code is displayed. CAUTION Three flashes for Normal screen 1.0 second.

    PART NAME AND FUNCTION Function of display This forklift has the self-diagnosis function. 1. Battery discharge indicator The battery discharge indicator shows the the status of battery discharged. Do not over-discharge. The battery life can be shortened by over-discharging. CAUTION Charge the battery immediately when all green segments are disappeared on the battery indicator.

Safety monitor (for travel circuit) MODE When fault is detected in the travel circuit, the service icon is flashed and the presumed defective error code is displayed. 9.     DRIVING AND OPERATION ● Do not operate the forklift truck prior to daily inspection. CAUTION ● Inspect the forklift truck before you operate it to be sure that it is properly maintained and in a good working order. Preparation of start 1) Turn on the key switch.

Make sure the tips of the forks are off the load or pallet, and lift down the forks to the traveling posi- tion (The fork height should be 350mm from the ground).

    The parts in the table are also very important for safe operation. NICHIYU recommends that you replace these parts every period as listed in the Periodical replacement parts chart even if their appearances are good.

    STABILITY OF FORKLIFT TRUCK As shown in the following illustration, the forklift truck is balanced on its front wheel (load wheels) with the maximum rated capacity load on the forks. Therefore, careful attention should be paid to the load Load center.

    10 10 STABILITY OF FORKLIFT TRUCK Stability of the forklift truck The stability of the forklift truck is prescribed by safety regulation in each country. The safety of the forklift truck is guaranteed under restricted conditions in those regulations. So, the safety of the forklift truck is NOT guaranteed for all operating conditions.
