The Switch Fabric Unit (SFU) on the Quidway
NetEngine 5000E core router (hereinafter referred
to as "NE5000E") completes service data switching of the entire system.
The NE5000E has 22 slots, of which four are for SFUs. It is recommended that four SFUs be
configured to achieve a switching capacity of 2.56 Tbps and realize redundancy backup to improve
the system reliability. Each SFU forms a switching plane and works equally in the system. In the full
configuration, the four SFUs work simultaneously and share service data in 3 + 1 load balancing
and redundancy backup mode. In this way, if one SFU is damaged or replaced, the other three will
automatically take over its service, ensuring the continuity of service data.
The SFU has separate channels to monitor its voltage and temperature and provide
over-voltage/overheat alarm and over-current protection. In addition, the on/off state and sequence
of its working power supply can be controlled.
The SFU currently supported by the NE5000E is CR52-SFUC. It has no external interfaces but only
three external indicators indicating the board operating status.
