This Guide will require customization to reflect your own company name, product name and/or document style.
About Your Wireless LAN USB Stick The Wireless LAN USB Stick is IEEE 802.11b compliant and connects to a USB port on desktop or notebook computers. Its maximum 11 Mbps data rate, which gives Ethernet equivalent speed, is ideal in the corporate or home environment. Users enjoy the wireless mobility within the coverage area.

WLAN Utility and Hardware Installation The installation procedures are similar for all supported Windows versions. Windows XP screen shots are shown unless otherwise specified. DO NOT insert the USB Stick at this point. 1. Insert the support CD into the CD-ROM drive on your computer.

2. Click Next to accept the default file location or click Browse to select an alternate folder. 3. If a warning window displays, click Yes (Windows 2000) or Continue Anyway (Windows XP).

4. Windows 2000/XP: Click Finish to complete the installation. Windows 98 SE/Me: Click Finish to restart the computer. 5. Locate an available USB port on the computer. 6. Remove the protective cap to expose the USB connector. Insert the USB Stick to the USB port on the computer.

7. Windows XP: A Found New Hardware Wizard windows displays. Select Install the software automatically (recommended) and click Next. 8. Windows XP: If a warning window displays, click Continue Anyway. 9. Windows XP: Click Finish to complete the installation process.
Disable Windows XP Configuration Tool Windows XP includes a basic configuration tool for wireless devices. DO NOT use the Windows XP configuration tool and the WLAN Utility program at the same time. It is recommended you use the WLAN Utility program to configure the USB Stick. Follow the steps below to disable the configuration tool in Windows XP.

3. In the Wireless Network Connection Properties window, make sure the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box is not selected. Click OK. Accessing the Wireless LAN Utility 1. After the Wireless LAN Utility is installed, an icon appears in the system tray. If the Utility icon displays, the USB Stick is installed properly.
Front Panel LED The following table describes the LED on the front panel of the USB Stick. COLOR STATUS DESCRIPTION Blue The USB Stick has a successful connection to an access point. Blink (fast) The USB Stick is sending or receiving data. Blink (slow) The USB Stick is ready but not connected to an access point.

PROBLEM CORRECTIVE ACTION Use the Device Manager window to check for possible hardware conflicts. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware and then click Device Manager. Verify the status of the USB Stick under Network Adapter. (Steps may vary depending on the version of Windows).
