referred to as the "ZyXEL Utility".
1 Install the ZyXEL Utility
Note: The installation program installs both the ZyXEL Utility
and the driver.
Note: Install the ZyXEL Utility before you insert the ZyAIR.
Follow the steps below to install the ZyXEL Utility for all supported
Windows operating systems.
1 Insert the support CD into the CD-ROM drive on your computer.
The CD automatically runs. Otherwise, locate and double-click on
Setup.exe.

3 Click Finish to complete the installation and restart the computer
when prompted.

system, connect the ZyAIR to an available
USB port on the computer. The LED turns

an icon appears in the system tray.

3 Windows XP Users
Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) is a wireless configuration utility
bundled with Windows XP.
3.1 Using WZC
If you are a Windows XP user and want to use WZC, then you can
either:
(i) Install the ZyXEL Utility and then disable it (by clicking the
button in any ZyXEL Utility screen)
Or
(ii) Install the driver only. In this case, you must connect the
ZyAIR first and follow the steps below.
Note: With WZC, you cannot use the ZyAIR as an access
point.
1 The Found New Hardware Wizard window appears. Select
Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) and click
Next.
2 Insert the included CD into your CD-ROM drive, select Search
removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...) and then click Next.
3 Click Finish to complete the installation.
3.2 Not Using WZC
If you want to use the ZyXEL Utility to configure the ZyAIR, you must
disable the WZC first.
1 Double-click the wireless network icon in the system
tray.
2 A Wireless Network Connection screen displays. Click
Advanced or Change advanced settings.
3 Make sure the Use Windows to configure my wireless network
settings option is NOT selected.
4 Connect to a Wireless Network
Before you continue, get the following information from an access
point or a WLAN router in the wireless network.
• SSID
• Encryption method
• Security key (if required)
Note: You must configure the ZyAIR to use same security
settings as the associated access point.
4.1 Using the ZyXEL Utility
The steps are similar for all supported Windows operating systems.
1 In the ZyXEL Utility, click the Site Survey tab.
2 Click Scan to search for all available wireless networks.
3 To join a network, select a
wireless network with a
high signal strength (check
the network setting in the
Site Info panel).
A key (
) icon indicates
that wireless security is
activated. You must know
the security setting and
key to connect to that
network. Otherwise, select
one without wireless security.
4 If wireless security is
activated, configure the
Security Settings screen
that displays.
Note: For advanced
security settings (such as
WPA), refer to the online
