Removing and Installing Ink Cartridges

Make sure you have your replacement cartridges handy before you begin. You must install new
cartridges immediately after removing the old ones.
Caution: Leave your old cartridges in the product until you are ready to replace them to prevent the print
head nozzles from drying out. Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install the ink.
Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability.
Note: If you remove a low or expended ink cartridge, you cannot re-install and use the cartridge.
1. Turn on your product.
• If an ink cartridge is expended, you see a message on the LCD screen. Note which cartridges
need to be replaced and follow the on-screen instructions or the instructions below to replace the
cartridge.
• If you are replacing a cartridge before you see a message on the LCD screen, press the
button if necessary, and select Maintenance > Ink Cartridge(s) Replacement > Next > Start.
Note: You can also select How To to view ink replacement instructions on the LCD screen.

The Epson XP-6100 may say the black ink cartridge needs to be changed after installation if the cartridge was removed and reinstalled. The printer does not allow reinstallation of a used cartridge. Additionally, if the cartridge is not recognized, improperly installed, or expired, the printer may prompt for a replacement.

To enlarge an item from 1" x 2" to 3" x 4" using the Epson XP-6100, you need to set the magnification to 300%. This is because 3" ÷ 1" = 3 and 4" ÷ 2" = 2, so the larger of the two ratios (3) determines the needed magnification to maintain proportions. Use the manual magnification setting and select 300%, which is within the supported range of 25% to 400%.
