8 Routine Maintenance
8.1 Raising the Vehicle
2 or 4 Post Workshop Lift
It is possible to complete vehicle maintenance on a 2 or 4 post workshop lift. Please adhere to the
jacking points as detailed below.
Generally, the vehicle will be raised using the built-in air jack system. For further information, please
refer to: Air Jacks.
Air Jacks
Primary and secondary stage air jack stands are used to increase the height of the vehicle on air jacks.
The second stage comes as part of the assembly with the air jack feet if purchased from McLaren
Customer Racing. For further information, please refer to: Error! Reference source not found.
The floor height if fitted with the second stage air jack stands is 400mm from the floor.
NOTE: The maximum operating pressure of the air jacks is 30 bar,
EXCEEDED UNDER ANY
pressure of 28-29 bar to raise the car.
NOTE: If using air jacks, make sure that air jack stands are always fitted before any personnel
work on the underside of the vehicle. However, it is recommended that the stands are used on
all possible occasions.
NOTE: Exercise caution as the air jacks will deploy and retract instantly when pressure is applied
or removed from the system.
