    INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing VoiceLive, TC-Helicon's harmony, correction and effects processor built for the road. A lot of effort went into this product. TC-Helicon engineers and product specialists met with performing musicians to make sure VoiceLive enhances your vocals on stage. The analog and digital signal path is designed to the same standards as our studio processors.

    PRESET MODE Preset mode is VoiceLive’s basic performance mode. Here you can select presets by turning the DATA WHEEL or by pressing the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons. Direct and Voice modes give additional control. To enter Preset Mode, hold the PRESET button (1) until the LED text display flashes PRE.

    Holding the DIRECT buttons (1-4) will either program the current preset to that Direct Button (when the second LED character is a “*”) or change the mode of operation of VoiceLive. PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons (5, 6) changes the preset. When this happens the second character on the LED display changes to a “*”, indicating that a DIRECT button may be programmed.

  • Page 25 PRESET EDIT SCREENS Voicing in Scale Mode Presets In this mode the V parameter specifies the interval of the harmony note with respect to the OICING input note in the scale. The range of values goes from --8, which is 2 octaves below the input note, to ++8 which is two octaves above the input note.

    PRESET EDIT SCREENS Thickening Edit Screen A good portion of hit vocals use an effect similar to VoiceLive’s thickening to add a stereo “shim- mer” to the lead voice. The parameters in this section are used to set the thickening parameters.

    PRESET EDIT SCREENS Pitch Correction Edit Screens VoiceLive will listen to the pitch of your voice, compare it to the selected correction scale, and then apply pitch correction in real-time. The amount of correction applied is governed by the various amount and timing settings.

Once the target correction pitch has been identified by VoiceLive, it begins TTACK to shift the pitch of your vocal at a rate determined by this parameter. A setting of 99 gives the fastest setting which instantaneously pulls your vocal in-tune, an effect that can be useful for some types of music.

    PRESET EDIT SCREENS Special Edit Screens The USER button and EXPRESSION pedal functions in VoiceLive give the performer foot control of their sound. They allow you to be your own sound man while you are performing. These special screens allow you to setup the USER button and EXPRESSION pedal in the preset.

  • Page 40 MIDI IN UTILITIES Compressor / Gate settings. The compressor in VoiceLive has auto makeup gain to a maximum of +20dB. This means that the volume level of the signal will be increased for most volume levels of input with the compressor enabled.
  • Page 41 Please note that some mixers will produce a distorted signal with a +20dB signal. If you experience distortion and neither the input nor output clip lights are flashing on VoiceLive, try adjusting this parameter to a lower setting.

    SONG MODE SONG MODE Song mode is VoiceLive’s advanced performance mode. You can pre-program a sequence of presets, scale, root, or chord changes, and step forwards and backwards through them as needed as well as jump directly to song steps in Direct mode - all with foot control. There is a maximum of 50 songs in VoiceLive with 30 steps each.
