System configuration

The SIWAREX JB junction box serves the following
purposes in plants employing weighing technology:
A Connection of up to 4 load cells
Load cells are connected in parallel. Rated load,
internal resistance and characteristic values of the load
cells must be identical. The technical specifications of
the weighing module should be considered when
selecting load cells. Load cells can be connected using
the 4-wire or 6-wire technique.
B Extension of the load cell signal cable
If only one load cell is connected and the distance
between the load cell and the weighing module
exceeds the length of the load cell connection cable,
the gap is bridge using the junction box and a signal
cable.
C Connection of more than 4 load cells
Junction boxes are switched in parallel via a cross
connection.
The maximum number of load cells that can be
connected to a weighing module depends on the total
resistance of the load cells connected in parallel. The
resistance must lie within the range specified for the
load resistance of the weighing module. The cable
length and other elements, e.g. the ex-barrier, may
also have to be taken into account.
The maximum cable length between load cell and
weighing module is specified in the technical data for
the weighing module.
