2-4 INSTALLING THE NEW MOD DRIVE
Installation differs depending on the type of MaxOptix drive sent with the kit. Please follow
the instructions below to determine which MOD drive you have.
1. Determine the type of MOD drive sent in the kit by referring to illustration 2-4. If there is a micro DIP switch
block on the top of the drive, it is a MaxOptix T5-2600P* Star: refer to illustration 2-5-A for SCSI settings. If
there is no DIP switch block on top, the drive is a MaxOptix T5-2600P, and refer to illustration 2-5-B for SCSI
settings.
2. With a T5-2600P*, confirm that the SCSI jumper settings on the new MOD drive match the jumper settings on
the functional switch on illustration 2-5-A. This sets SCSI ID = 3 (Table 2-1). Make sure there is no jumper on
pins 9&10 to ensure that there is no active termination of the SCSI bus at the drive. Check the micro DIP
switch SW1 on top of the drive (Illustration 2-4) and make sure all are disabled (Table 2.4).
With a T5-2600P, confirm that the SCSI jumper settings on the new MOD drive match the jumper settings on
the functional switch on illustration 2-5-B. This sets SCSI ID = 3 (Table 2-1).
3. Remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the SCSI tray front cover and remove the cover.
4. Insert the new MOD drive into the opening from the front of the SCSI tray. Push drive between the mounting
brackets on the tray and line up the four mounting screw holes with the upper slotted holes on the brackets. If
replacing a full height MOD, install the blank panel that came in the installation kit on the lower half. Install the
new MOD on the upper half. (Illustration 2-3-B). The front of the drive will not push through the opening in the
SCSI tray.
