    Notices and Safety Instructions Notices regarding rotation of LCD screen Please rotate the LCD screen carefully as illustrated. Unintended rotation may cause damage to the inside of the hinge that connects the LCD screen to the Camcorder. 1. LCD screen closed.

If a square block-shaped noise distorts playback pictures, or if only a blue screen is displayed during playback, the video heads may be dirty.     - Even with the power switched off, the battery will still discharge if it is left connected to the camcoder. Notes The battery pack may be charged a little at the time of purchase. To prevent reduction in the life and capacity of the battery pack, always remove it from the camcorder after it is fully charged.

    Inserting and Ejecting a Cassette Use Mini DV Cassettes only. When inserting a tape or closing a cassette holder, do not apply excessive force. It can cause a malfunction. Do not use tapes other than Mini DV CASSETTE. 1. Connect a power source. Slide the OPEN/EJECT button forward and open the cassette door all the way.

    Open the LCD monitor and make sure that STBY is displayed. If the protection tab of the cassette is open, 'TAPE' will flash on the display. Make sure the image you want to record appears in the LCD monitor or viewfinder.
  • Page 31 Basic Recording When a cassette is loaded and the camcorder is left in the STBY mode for more than 5 minutes without being used, it will switch off automatically. To use it again, push the START/STOP button or set the Power switch to OFF and then back to CAMERA.

    The WHITE BALANCE function works in CAMERA mode only. The WHITE BALANCE is a recording function that preserves the unique color of the object in any recording condition. You may select the appropriate WHITE BALANCE mode to obtain good quality color of the image.

    SHUTTER The SHUTTER SPEED function works in CAMERA mode only. The shutter speed can be controlled, allowing you to record both fast and slow moving objects. You can select one of the following. AUTO, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/100, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/10000 second.

    If you select a higher value, the iris opens, and the image will be brighter. If you select a lower value, the iris will be closed more, and the image will be darker. You can select one of the following.

    Playing back a tape recorded in other equipment may produce mosaic shaped noise. When you record in SP and LP modes on one tape or you record some scenes in LP mode, the playback picture may be distorted or the time code may not be written properly between scenes.

    The WIND CUT function minimizes wind noise or other noise during recording. - When the wind cut is on, some low sounds are cut out along with the sound of the wind. The WIND CUT menu selecting method is the same as the REC LAMP.

    The DEMO function only works without a TAPE inserted. If you set the DEMO to ON during recording or STBY mode, the demonstration will activate 3 minutes later after the tape is ejected. If you press other buttons (ZOOM, FADE, BLC, PHOTO, EASY, CUSTOM) during the DEMO mode, the DEMO stops.
