Laser sources KLS CL/SLS CL
13.2. Real Time Power Supply RTPS
13.2..1 Safety measures
DANGER
Electric shock from stored electrical charge
The C-module works with voltages up to 450 volts.
The following is to be done before any action is taken:
1. Disconnect the laser supply from the mains using the main switch.
2. Make sure that the device is disconnected by using a suitable meter
(measuring range 1000 V AC) to measure X400/230 at PE.
3. Make sure that the device is disconnected by using a suitable meter
(measuring range 1000 V DC) to measure P/N at PE. If the device has not been dis
connected, the discharge device will fail; see point 4.
DANGER if a fault occurs
4. If the discharge device fails, then discharge (the unit) by means of the groun
ding connector at the grounding point EP.
5. Determine that the device is disconnected after discharging. Make sure that
the device is disconnected by using a suitable meter (measuring range 1000 V DC)
by measuring P/N at PE.
6. If the device is not disconnected, then the C-module will discharge itself within 2
hours. After expiry of the discharge time, determine absolutely that the device is dis
connected.
13.2..2 Function
13.2..2.1 Run condition
By the actuation of the On pushbutton, the power input voltage is applied. The RTPS now ignites the flash
lamp within 6 sec. After the ignition has taken place, the RTPS changes into the operating condition Run,
which is indicated by the green LED of the status display.
The flash lamp is now maintained in simmer operation, until the triggering of a laser pulse takes place.
13.2..2.2 Warning condition
If the RTPS is overloaded, caused by a too high lamp current (IL>650 A) or a too deep discharging of the
c-modul (UC< 350V), then further laser pulses are suppressed by the RTPS. By reducing the laser para-
meters (pulse power, pulse energy, average power) the Warning condition can be eliminated. The RTPS
then automatically returns to the Run condition and enables the laser pulses once more.
The Warning condition is indicated by the yellow LED of the status display and the warning mes-
sage:
Lwarn M13 LG1 / M1 LG2.
If the Warning condition is linked with the OK signal at the interface: X51 USER1, then the OK signal
changes to low level.
