Using a nonmetallic scraper, remove the existing seal and adhesive from the baggage door.
(3)
Remove adhesive residue and clean door seal area with DeSoclean 110 Solvent.
(4)
Using the old seal as a guide or the door seal area of the baggage door, measure and cut the
new seal to length.
(5) Apply a thin, even coat of RTV157 Adhesive around the circumference of the door seal area of
the baggage door.
(6) Press the new seal into the adhesive. Allow the adhesive to cure per the manufacturer's
instructions, ensuring that the seal is completely adhered to the door with no gaps between the
seal and the door.
NOTE:
Do not stretch the seal around the corners of the door.
(7)
Reinstall the baggage door.
C.
Baggage door weatherstrip inspection.
(1) Place a 4 X 11 inch piece of paper between the baggage door frame and the baggage door.
Close the baggage door. Slowly pull on the paper to ensure there is seal tension. Move the
paper around the perimeter of the door to test the door seal tension.
(2) Remove the paper from the door frame. Ensure the baggage door is closed. Pour a gallon of
water over the door and tailcone door frame. After the water has finished dripping, open the door
and inspect for leaks.
(3) If any leaks are found, towel dry the upholstery with a clean dry towel. Reposition the seal as
required to ensure no leaks around the seal area of the baggage door.
NOTE:
It is permissible to build-up the area using U064158 Aerodynamic Filler Compound
before repositioning the seal, if necessary. Sand and touch-up paint area to match.
