4.2 Codec Assignment
Program
Number
84-12-28
Audio Capability Priority
This program assigns the Codec that is used when call-
ing across the SL Net network.
Refer to the above bandwidth chart when making the Co-
dec selection.
84-12-01
G.711 Audio Frame Size
Assign the G.711 Audio Frame Size.
The smaller the packet sizes the more bandwidth that is
consumed. However when a smaller packet is lost in a
network a smaller amount of the voice is lost with it.
84-12-02
G.711 Voice Activity Detection
This program is used to enable or disable the G.711 Co-
dec to use silence detection. When silence detection is
enabled the SL2100 can detect the absence of audio and
conserve bandwidth by preventing the transmission of
"silent packets" over the network.
When this program is enabled, it can save on bandwidth.
However, it can also affect the quality of the call. VAD
may have trouble detecting the start and end of silence
and therefore may cut off the beginning and/or the end of
a word.

G.711 Audio Type
84-12-04
G.711 Minimum Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the minimum size that the jitter buf-
fer will use.
84-12-05
G.711 Average Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the average size that the jitter buf-
fer will use.
84-12-06
G.711 Maximum Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the maximum size that the jitter
buffer will use.
84-12-07
G.729 Audio Frame Size
Assign the G.729 Audio Frame Size
The smaller the packet sizes the more bandwidth that is
consumed. However when a smaller packet is lost in a
network a smaller amount of the voice is lost with it.
84-12-08
G.729 Voice Activity Detection
This program is used to enable or disable the G.729 CO-
DEC to use silence detection. When silence detection is
enabled, the SL2100 can detect the absence of audio
and conserve bandwidth by preventing the transmission
of "silent packets" over the network. When this program
is enabled, it can save on bandwidth however it can also
affect the quality of the call. VAD may have trouble de-
tecting the start and end of silence and therefore may cut
off the beginning and/or the end of a word.
84-12-09
G.729 Minimum Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the minimum size that the jitter buf-
fer will use.
84-12-10
G.729 Average Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the average size that the jitter buf-
fer will use.
84-12-11
G.729 Maximum Jitter Buffer size
This program assigns the maximum size that the jitter
buffer will use.
