SPEEDTRONIC
General notes
SPEEDTRONIC helps you to avoid exceeding a
set speed.
You can set a variable or permanent speed lim-
itation:
Variable, for maximum permissible speeds,
R
e.g. in built-up areas
Permanent, for long-term maximum permis-
R
sible speeds, e.g. when driving on winter tyres

When the engine is running, you can use the
cruise control lever to limit the speed to any
speed above 30 km/h even if the vehicle is sta-
tionary. You can adjust the speed limitation in
increments of 1 km/h and 10 km/h.
miles
If you have set
speedometer, you can set any speed from
20 mph as the speed limitation. You can then
adjust the speed limitation in increments of
1 mph and 5 mph.

The speed shown in the speedometer may
differ slightly from the stored speed limita-

You can only exceed the speed limitation stored
by variable SPEEDTRONIC if you:
deactivate variable SPEEDTRONIC using the

cruise control lever. (
depress the accelerator pedal beyond the

pressure point (kickdown with automatic
transmission). Variable SPEEDTRONIC then
switches to passive (

You cannot deactivate variable SPEED-
TRONIC by braking.
Important safety notes
The SPEEDTRONIC system automatically brakes
the vehicle to ensure that you do not exceed the
speed that you have set. Observe the supple-
mentary notes on braking (
If you fail to adapt your driving style or if you are
inattentive, SPEEDTRONIC can neither reduce

the risk of an accident nor override the laws of
physics. SPEEDTRONIC cannot take road,
weather and traffic conditions into account.
SPEEDTRONIC is only an aid. You are responsi-
ble for the distance to the vehicle in front, for
vehicle speed, for braking in good time and for
staying in lane.
If you change wheel size, make sure they corre-
spond to the correct wheel size category

recoding the control units in the vehicle, the
functioning of SPEEDTRONIC may be impaired.
If there is a change of drivers, make sure that
you inform the new driver about the stored
speed.
