    Product Description Product Description A family of single and dual-lumen peripherally placed and central catheters made from specially formulated and processed medical grade materials, in a tray with accessories for reliable long (greater than 30 days) or short term (less than 30 days) vascular access.

    - Continuous infusion of vesicants. Warnings: • Intended for Single Patient Use. DO NOT REUSE. Bard Access Systems products are single use devices and should never be reimplanted. Reuse carries with it the attendant concern of cross-infection regardless of the cleaning or sterilization method.

    Precautions Precautions: • Follow Universal Precautions when inserting and maintaining the catheter. • Follow all contraindications, warnings, cautions, precautions and instructions for all infusates as specified by its manufacturer. • Use aseptic techniques whenever the catheter lumen is opened or connected to other devices.

After placement, observe the following precautions to avoid device damage and/or patient injury: • Do not use the device if there is any evidence of mechanical damage or leak- ing. Damage to the catheter may lead to rupture, fragmentation and possible embolism and surgical removal.

Do not apply excessive pressure to the T-handles (if applicable). • Perform venipuncture and observe for flashback. • Holding the needle stationary, advance the introducer sheath into the vessel by pushing forward.

Attach Suture Wings • Remove the suture wing from the delivery card. • Squeeze the suture wing together so that it splits open. • Place the suture wing around the catheter near the venipuncture site. • If the “Y” adapter of the dual lumen catheter is at the insertion site, the suture wing will not be needed.

Modification of Catheter Length Single Lumen Catheters Only • Using a sharp scalpel or sterile scis- sors, carefully cut the catheter leav- ing at least 4 cm to 7 cm of the catheter for connector attachment.
  • Page 15 Insertion Instructions • With a straight motion, slide the oversleeve portion of the connector and the winged portion of the connector together, aligning the grooves on the oversleeve portion of the connector with the barbs on the winged portion of the connector. Do not twist. Note: Connector portions must be gripped on plastic areas for prop- er assembly.

    Suggested Catheter Maintenance & Catheter Removal Suggested Catheter Maintenance The catheter should be maintained in accordance with standard hospi- tal protocols. Suggested catheter maintenance is as follows: • Dressing Changes Assess the dressing in the first 24 hours for accumulation of blood, fluid or moisture beneath the dressing.
