Chapter 5 Smart Access Anywhere
About Smart Access Anywhere
About Smart Access Anywhere
Smart Access Anywhere allows you to view and control the instrument's user interface
from a remote location using a workstation. In addition to configuring the instrument and
performing tests, you can transfer files to and from the instrument using the instru-
ment's file manager utility. You can also rename and delete files, or create, rename, and
delete directories.
Licensing
If you are using the Smart Access Anywhere utility to remotely access a 5800/4800 test
instrument, you do not need a license. If you want to remotely access any other instru-
ment (for example, a CSAM or MSAM), you must specify a license key before using the
utility.
The following licenses are available:
•
License 1 (reference SAA-6K-L1): for Smart Access Anywhere using an Ethernet
or Wifi hotspot connection.
•
License 2 (reference SAA-6K-L2): for Smart Access Anywhere using an Ethernet,
Wifi hotspot, or USB / Wifi connection via a 3G smart phone.

Need help?
Do you have a question about the T-BERD MTS 5800 and is the answer not in the manual?
Questions and answers
Good afternoon! If possible,i would like to know how the BERT works. I mean, how exectly does BERT insert errors in traffic flow? I'm a student and i'm writing a diploma on the topic of FEC efficiency analysis. It would be nice if you can help me Yours sincerely, Ivanov A. I.
The BERT function in the Viavi T-BERD MTS 5800 is used to test network performance by measuring the Bit Error Rate (BER). It ensures compliance with G.709 standards by generating test patterns and analyzing received data for errors. The function can be activated by turning on the BERT icon, which loads the necessary software modules. Additionally, errors and alarms can be inserted into the traffic flow to simulate fault conditions and verify network resilience.
