I have an Epson ET-4700. I keep getting a paper jam under the print head at the start of printing on the left side of the page. How do I check this out?

A rubber band got pulled into the paper feeder and I got an E-01 message. I opened the front of the printer and pulled the rubber band out from the rollers, but some of it may remain. After restarting the printer, the E-01 message remains and I cannot print or scan. Is there any way to find and remove the remaining piece of rubber.
