Bose Wave radio will not turn on

The Bose Wave radio may not turn on due to a few possible reasons:

1. Processor Boot Issue – The radio might be stuck in the boot process. A suggested fix is to unplug it for an extended period (e.g., overnight) to reset the processor.
2. Power Issues – Faulty or aged electrolytic capacitors inside the radio could be preventing proper power delivery. Checking and replacing them may help.
3. Remote Control Issue – If the radio operates only by remote, a weak or dead battery in the remote could prevent it from turning on. Replacing the battery may resolve the issue.

If these steps do not work, further troubleshooting or professional repair may be needed.

If your Bose Wave radio won't turn on even with new batteries in the remote, try the following:

1. Power Cycle the Radio – Unplug it from power and leave it unplugged for an extended time (e.g., overnight). This may reset the processor.
2. Check Display Behavior – If the display only shows the time but does not respond to the remote, the issue might not be with the remote itself.
3. Inspect Electrolytic Capacitors – If the radio is older, faulty capacitors inside may prevent it from completing the boot process.
4. Verify Power Connection – Ensure the radio is plugged into a working power outlet.
5. Test the Remote – If a green dot appears when pressing buttons but the radio does not respond, the remote may not be communicating properly.

If the issue persists after these steps, internal repairs may be needed.

My Bose Wave radio, Model AWR1-1W, worked perfectly until I tried to turn it on yesterday. The display was blank and did not show the time except for one light on the display: "vol". Nothing else. It did not turn on when I pressed power button. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but this time every light on the display lit up, but the radio still would not turn on. I unplugged again and replugged it in. This time and on future attempts, the display was completely blank and of course no music. Curious what the most likely fault is with the radio.
