Series 911
Preventive maintenance will provide high reliability and
long life for the Series 911 Remote Control (RC) Switch.
De–energize all power sources to the
Remote Control Switch before working on it.
Keep the switch clean
During installation protect the RC Switch from
construction grit and metal chips. Once a year
de–energize all sources, then brush and vacuum away any
excessive dust accumulation.
Maintain switch lubrication
Under normal service, relubrication is not required.
Renew factory lubrication if the switch is subjected to
severe dust or abnormal operating conditions.
Relubricate the operator if the RC coil is replaced.
Order appropriate lubrication kit:

Load 1 contacts when the
control station is closed.
RC Switch does not close
Load 2 contacts when the
control station is opened.
RC Switch tries to close or
open, but cannot.

Check Control Voltage
Measure control voltage
between RC switch TB
terminals 1 and 2.
Measure control voltage
between RC switch TB
terminals 1 and 3.
Measure at least 90% control
voltage (nameplate coil
voltage) between RC switch
TB terminals 1 and 2,
or 1 and 3.
—
Measure no more than 110%
control voltage (nameplate
coil voltage) between RC
switch TB terminals 1 and 2,
or 1 and 3.

Inspect main current–carrying contacts
Once a year deenergize all sources, then remove the
barrier / pole cover and/or arc chutes to check the
condition of the main contacts. Do not file or dress the
contacts. Reinstall the arc chutes and/or barrier / pole
cover after inspection.
Replacement Parts
The RC operator coil is available in kit form. When
ordering parts, provide the Serial No., Catalog No., and
BOM No. from the Series 911 RC Switch nameplate.

Check Control Station, Wiring, Supply
If no voltage is present, check control
station contacts, control wiring, supply
fuses, and optional accessories.
If no voltage is present, check control
station contacts, control wiring, supply
fuses, and optional accessories.
If voltage is low, check control wire size
and line run distance. If a transformer is
used in the control line, make sure it
can handle the VA burden required.
Refer to Tables B and C on page 3.
Check control station for overlapping
contacts and correct. Control stations
cannot call on RC Switch to close and
open at the same time.
If the voltage is high, change the
control supply or change the RC
Switch.
